Miss Rieka Taghizadeh is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon based in Liverpool UK. She specialises in Microvascular Breast Reconstruction and in particular high BMI patients and those requiring corrective salvage surgery. Her plastic surgery specialisation was undertaken in the North East of England followed by a microsurgery fellowship in London and visiting fellowships to Barcelona, Dusseldorf and Helsinki. Active research includes optimisation of microsurgical breast reconstruction in high BMI patients as well as treatment of DIEP flaps with post mastectomy radiotherapy.
She is a member of BAPRAS and BAAPS and is the clinical lead for breast reconstruction within her hospital trust. She has taken part in a number of television documentaries and news coverage with BBC to raise awareness about Breast Cancer and Reconstruction in particular in the developing world. She is an avid skier and sportswoman. Other activities include classical singing and painting where she has donated her work to International Plastic Surgery Charity auctions.
